At the Rotary Club of Lake Bunyonyi, Service Above Self is more than just a motto, it’s the foundation of everything we do. Our work is deeply rooted in the real needs of the communities around Lake Bunyonyi, and we are committed to driving lasting, sustainable change that uplifts lives and empowers futures.
We believe that true impact comes from listening first. That’s why we engage closely with local leaders, schools, health centers, and community members to co-create initiatives that are both relevant and transformative. Every project we undertake is thoughtfully designed to align with Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus, ensuring that our efforts are strategic, inclusive, and effective.
Whether it’s:
- Installing clean water systems to improve health and hygiene,
- Launching tree-planting and environmental conservation efforts to preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of our region,
- Providing scholarships and school supplies to give children access to quality education,
- Supporting maternal and child health,
- Or empowering youth and women through vocational training and economic development programs, we approach each initiative with purpose, compassion, and a long-term vision.

Focus Areas of Our Work
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)
We develop and support water projects that provide safe, clean drinking water to villages and schools. This includes the construction of boreholes, rainwater harvesting systems, and hygiene awareness programs.
Basic Education & Literacy
We believe education is a key driver of opportunity. Our work includes donating school supplies, constructing classrooms, supporting underprivileged students, and promoting adult literacy.
Maternal and Child Health
We organize community health outreaches, maternal health awareness, and support local health centers with basic supplies and equipment. We also run sensitization campaigns on hygiene and nutrition.
Environmental Conservation
Protecting Lake Bunyonyi and its surrounding ecosystems is central to our mission. We lead tree planting initiatives, lake cleanups, and community education on environmental responsibility.
Youth Empowerment
We invest in the next generation through mentorship, leadership training, and vocational skills programs. We also support youth involvement in Rotary through Interact Clubs and youth forums.
Collaborations & Impact
Our projects are made possible through the strength of our members, the support of our partners, and the engagement of the community. We collaborate with local authorities, international Rotary clubs, and non profit organizations to increase our reach and maximize our impact.
